GDPR and cookies

GDPR

The Hampden House web site operates within the terms of the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Our web pages do not automatically collect any personal information about visitors to our site, or store such data in a database or elsewhere. Visitors are always anonymous unless they choose to provide information to us on a voluntary basis.

There are two ways in which visitors can provide personal information to us by electronic means – by submitting a message to us via our contact form (which generates an email to us) or by explicitly sending us an email. In both cases, you are providing information voluntarily on the understanding that we will store it securely and treat it confidentially in compliance with appropriate regulations. No personal data about visitors is ever passed to a third party. This web site itself does not track, monitor or save information submitted via online forms.

Cookies

Unlike many web sites, which use cookies to track users’ visits and browsing behaviour, the Hampden House web site does not itself use cookies for any purpose. If in future we should adopt the use of cookies, these will only involve system cookies, which contain no personal data and are “forgotten” at the end of each visit. Such cookies are permitted under the UK’s Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations to ensure the smooth and transparent running of modern web sites.

Analytics

Hampden House uses the Google Analytics tool to obtain an overall picture of how visitors use our web site. Google Analytics uses various means including cookies to collect information in an anonymous, aggregated form so that, for example, we know about the number of page views and how visitors have arrived at the web site. The information generated in this way is redirected to, and stored by, Google Inc, but does not include details that can distinguish individual users.
